This was a really worthwhile experience! This is not the biggest place, probably fit about 16 people for a class. You are given a brief intro to azulejos. I actually wish a little more time was spent talking about the history in a perfect world because it seems like a fascinating subject.
Don’t worry if you can’t draw, there are plenty cool designs to pick from and all you have to do is paint over the holes in the stencil. Our teacher was friendly and helpful. I can see why painting these tiles is therapeutic and it was a nice chill way to spend a couple of hours. This was definitely the coolest and most personal of my souvenirs I got in Portugal. I love how my azulejos turned out and will always treasure them!
Such a lovely afternoon! The workshop space is super nice, the tiles came out great and our amazing teacher Diana was truly a pleasure to be around.
My mom and I took the tile making class and finished 2 tiles each. We learned a lot and it was very fun to paint tiles after being inspired by all the beautiful tiles in Porto. Gazete Azulejos is on a great mission to catalog beautiful old tiles. I've been following them on IG for years and finally got to come to Porto and take the in person class! We both had a great time. We also bought a few small tiles for coasters. I hope to order more tiles from Gazete Azulejos when I renovate my kitchen or bathroom in a few years. Rua do Sol 101 is my absolute favorite tile and we walked by the address to see the original tiles in person, which was really wonderful!
I took the workshop twice, back-to-back, literally a day after my first go.

The tile painting workshop was wonderful! Teacher Diana (I hope I've spelled her name correctly) is amazing: introduced us to the history of Portuguese tiles, helped us with the painting and made really good jokes all along, which made the process even more adorable!
Another cool thing is that patterns are the real tiles from houses in Porto, and you can explore the city and compare your masterpiece with the original in natural habitat 😁
We had a great time learning about history of azulejos and painting some of our own! The ladies there were really nice and guided and helped us trough the process. Totally recommend if you want an authentic experience of Porto!

Amazing experience! Instructor was very helpful and nice :) It was also possible to buy extra tile (7€), I was really happy about it!
I never got to visit the shop in person, but I ordered tiles online to use as my kitchen backsplash. They are stunning, worth every penny, and bring a bit of antique Portuguese beauty to my home in New York. Highly recommend.
